It's so cool, Pavel! Along this entire region there are a lot of interesting finds. Just a few miles away is yet another amazing old schoolhouse I didn't even know about till a few days ago!!! Thanks for the support.
This is a wonderful collection of photos, but also a lovely piece of photo journalism. So many things to say about the photos, but I loved the use of a leading line in the neighborhood shots, one direct heading to the two houses, and the other the road lines leading my eye past the house on the left towards the two at the end of the curve. I also was taken by the framing you used of the tree in front of the small house. As a retired teacher, like you I'm drawn to old school houses, and, as I'm sure you did, looked at the school picture, and could put names of students I taught to the faces in 1953 (indeed they looked about the age of my 6th graders). You have a terrific eye, and I appreciate not only the effort you put in to taking photographs, but also the effort you take in telling a story with your photos and your words. Thank you!
Oh wow. As always - thank you. I didn't know (or forgot!) that you are a retired teacher! These places always have something to say to me - I'll never stop finding them and being interested in them. The big old abandoned community schools are still so fascinating to me. I have dozens around Nebraska and Iowa I have on my maps I need to go see - so I'm sure I'll do a post on those sometime too! I drove a few hours this weekend just to find one school in Missouri, and it was worth the drive alone! Thanks for your kind words - I love the leading lines one too. Your comments are great - knowing what resonates with others helps me refine my skills too. I often take (and share) WAY TOO many photos. But... I'm not mad at myself. I just love this stuff too much!!
The snaps with the pink appliances and green walls are 🤩.
Oh man. I LOVE those. I shot more of them but I was already out of control with the amount of photos I took! Thanks, Tania!
Fascinating
love this series, would be great to explore this area!

Quite the place to experience. Also, high odds that the guy became a politician and then went to jail, ha!
Absolutely, Scott! Lol! Thanks my friend.
Amazing story and the photos are book-worthy!
Juliette! Thank you! Someday... "AMERICAN DETRITUS" or something like that. I'm still working on it!!!
