I Used Lovable AI to Create A Photography App - You can too!
It’s super easy - and wildly helpful even if you never publish anything.
There’s a lot of criticism to go around when it comes to the topic of AI, including a crushing, possible future where basically no one has jobs and we live in a dystopian nightmare where Mark Zuckerberg is an immortal vampire who has taken over the world.
While this apocolypse is about a 90% possibility, there’s a chance that if AI doesn’t destroy us, it could actually be useful.
For instance - I’m super lazy. I keep thinking I might be able to change this someday, but at my age… it’s going to take a lot of work to turn that around. I can change my schedule, get better sleep, eat well, manage my caffeine better, and use less screen time…
OR I can just use AI to make up for my faults!
For instance: in my YouTube videos, I know that if I include the camera, lens, aperture, shutter, and ISO values, it could be valuable to other photographers wanting to know how to improve their photography. However, adding that information to each photo is just so boring and time consuming - I will never do it. Way too lazy.
BUT - if I could find a really easy way to do it?
That’s where AI comes in.
There’s a website called “Lovable,” and it’s great. You log in, tell our AI overlords what kind of app you want to create, THEN IT DOES. It makes it. This world is crazy.
I wrote this prompt: Is there a way to upload a photo and have an app read the iso, shutter speed, and aperture values, and the display the photo and that information on a white background?
Lovable created this:
So I tried it out - and within five minutes I was able to upload a photo, click “export” and then have a high-quality photograph that has a border and text that displays the camera information.
You can see it here with a few examples:
It’s so cool. I still have work to do to make the font size consistent - but I’ll get there.
I have NO IDEA what I’m doing. I can’t code. Social media has warped my mind so badly, I can’t even focus. So the idea of learning how to make something like this on my own is rediculous.
WOW, I’m excited now.
I also created an app combining mindfulness, photography, and journalism. Here is my prompt (on the left) and the app it made in just like 20 seconds on the right:
Even if I never share this with anyone else, it’s useful for ME. I can export a daily prompt every day and find it in my Photos app. Each one is a reminder to be grateful, and to remember that day.
I know that there are apps that do this (the free Journal app from Apple on the iPhone itself is pretty amazing), but, as is Apple’s wild and mysterious way, for some insane reason the app is only available on the iPhone (I want to spend less time on my phone and would rather use my iPad).
I looked for other options, but the apps were either too expensive, had ads, or was so bloated with features, it wasn’t insanely simple to use (another rule for my laziness). So, I was left to create my own app!
Lucky for me, AI lets me do this.
Here’s my first test:
I did’t like the vertical format, so I asked the app to change it.
It worked!
I really like the concept of this: It’s a reason to get out and be mindful, every day, and it’s focused on photography. (And if you’d like to play around and “code” this app yourself, here is the link to it: Link to Project)
The fact that I was able to create a mockup app like this and play around with it - that’s PRICELESS.
As a creative, it’s a nightmarish time to think about our future. AI is a real threat to many of our creative jobs.
However, it’s not all bad, and there are some incredible opportunities as well!
Livestream TONIGHT (and a community update)
Some of you were part of my community where we had weekly livestreams, photo challenges, etc., It was fun, and I loved it because I got to interact with other awesome photographers.
However, it was over $100/month, and honestly: don’t we all have too many subscriptions? Everything costs - but I just couldn’t find the value proposition where I could bring myself to ask others to help me pay for it… and I didn’t have the time to bring it to life as well as I wanted. So I had to let the old community go.
BUT - let’s keep the livestreams going!
To do this, I’m going to use an app called Discord. The great thing? It’s FREE - and still allows us to share photos, do livestreams, and all of that. Look - it’s waiting for us to fill with photos, comments, and questions. It’s NOT social media - so there’s no ads there. I think this place will work! (It’s also a place many people already go, so it might be more familiar to people.)
I’ll be on tonight (Monday, June 30, 2025) at 7 pm central, and I’d love to see you there! Just follow this link (and say hello). https://discord.gg/twK7kEQtce
Until next time - THANK YOU FOR READING!

I work as a principal cloud technologist at AWS creating technical instructional content, in my last course about AI I showed how to use AI to create something very similar :)
But it gets film information, and uses the image’s predominant color to set a background, copying Apple’s “Shot On” style. The result look like this. 🥰
Very nice to see we had similar ideas!
Insane!!! I will definitely check it out. You're right. This world is just crazy! And I'm lazy too :). Thanks for sharing this.
